Dark Lord Day celebrates the annual release of 3 Floyds Brewing’s ultra-limited Dark Lord Imperial Stout — one of the highest-rated and most sought-after beers, which has gained a cult-like following since its release in 2004. This event is the one and only place where fans can obtain bottles of the elusive brew.

On May 16, thousands will gather at the brewery in Munster, Indiana to celebrate the annual release of Dark Lord and its barrel-aged variants, while experiencing the “Not Normal” beer and metal fest alongside one of the country’s biggest bottle shares.

Ticket holders will also receive a wristband by mail, which will be used only to identify Dark Lord bottle pickup groups and for access throughout the festival. Wristbands are not valid for entry without a digital or printed ticket. Wristbands will begin shipping the week of 4/27.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW DO I GET MY DARK LORD?

You can enter the festival anytime. Your wristband is printed with a group assignment that indicates your Dark Lord pickup time:

Group A 9-11am / Group B 11am-1pm / Group C 1-3pm / Group D 3-5pm /

If you miss your group time, you can pick up your bottles in a later group. 

Dark Lord bottle pickup will take place inside the brewery. Security will check your group assignment and mark your wristband to indicate receipt of your bottles.

Dark Lord bottles are not available before or after the festival or to those who left without picking them up. 3 Floyds will not replace lost or broken bottles.

WHAT CAN I BRING?

Your wristband, ID, and digital/printed ticket are a must; you need a valid passport or U.S. ID to enter the festival. Also acceptable: backpacks up to 20” without wheels or frames. Up to 72 ounces of beer; must fit in your backpack. Two factory-sealed water bottles. Hydration packs must be empty and will be inspected. A water station is located in the middle of the festival and bottled water is available for purchase throughout the festival.

WHAT’S BANNED?

Anyone under 21, babies, pets other than service animals, camping equipment, hard-side coolers, chairs, wagons, drones, firearms, knives, weapons, wine or liquor, flip-top jugs, growlers, backpacks larger than 20”, backpacks with wheels or frames, outside food, umbrellas, RVs.

HOW DO I GET THERE?

Please carpool or take a cab, limo, Lyft, Uber or shuttle.

Parking is limited. No RV parking is available. ADA parking is located at the west end of Progress Avenue near the Re-Entry Gate.

CAN I LEAVE AND COME BACK?

Yes. Once you’ve passed through the Main Entrance, you can exit at the Re-Entry/Accessible Gate. Re-enter there with your Dark Lord Day wristband and the 21+ wristband received at entry. You do not have to wait in the Main Entrance line to get back in.Beer can be carried out of the festival grounds in sealed, unopened containers, but you cannot re-enter with beer. CAN I PURCHASE DARK LORD AT THE FESTIVAL?

Yes. Dark Lord and barrel-aged variants will be available on draft all day at the festival. Bottles of Dark Lord will also be available for purchase at the Bottle Buy tent, while supplies last.
