At least this I know. Dark Lord tastes like shit. It’s a good time to go for the rest of the festivities.. If you say you like that crap, you are lying to yourself. It’s not good.

  2. [...] or at 3 AM for that matter (thanks Kyle) Congrats 3 Floyds for the slick marketing campaign and the double trending topic.  Maybe next year we can scrounge up some duct tape for the web servers.  April 24th is [...]

This thing has become quite the phenomenon, and deservedly so – the day itself is flat-out festival, and a brilliant demonstration of how craft beer people can come together in great number for a day of copious yet restrained drinking. Treating beer respectfully, as an end rather than a means to acting stupid. Makes me proud to be associated with it all.

I suppose there will always be complaints from those that miss out on tickets (I DID procure them after about 1/2 hour of fighting through “temporary warning”s), but I can’t think of what else you could possibly do, short of a lottery system (and that’s even less satisfying for the loser, since it’s all luck). Thousands of people is thousands of people…

Although…have you thought about perhaps staggering the ticket sales? For example, on day 1, the first 100 to click on a link will be allowed in, and everyone else denied. But those that are denied will be given the approximate time tomorrow that the next 200 tickets will be made available. This way those that are vigilant and stick to it are still rewarded, but server-crashing madness is averted. And it allows people to have multiple chances at getting the tickets, so those that REALLY want them have several opportunities to be on top of things. One day of missing the boat, for whatever reason, won’t ruin your shot at DL – and if in the end you still don’t get tickets, you’ll have your own several-days effort to blame as much as anything else (or at least, to a greater extent than with the current system).

Think that could be a direction to take this? (For the record, I just thought that up while working on beer #3….so whether it’s brilliant or idiotic, I think we know where credit goes ;-) )
