Dark Lord Day Tickets.

Thanks for everyone who purchased golden tickets, that was a wild ride. There where a few hiccups along the way but everything should be sorted out now.

A couple of things to note:

No one will be charged shipping. There was a hiccup in our admin system that caused shipping charges to be added to golden tickets. These charges will not be applied to your credit card. We are removing all shipping charges from your orders.

The site outage was regrettable, but wow, we brought down shopify. We received this email shortly after our services where restored.

We’re extremely sorry for the bad showing we gave to your flash-sale of tickets on your Shopify store. I’m afraid you cought us with our pants down with the sheer volume of customers all at once, our datacenter couldn’t handle that many orders a second. We had to disable inventory tracking on all of Shopify temporarily, otherwise we couldn’t keep the system up. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this caused to you and especially your customers.

The traffic was amazing. We’ll try and get some actual numbers together for you in the near future. Because of the constant refreshing we’ll be testing for duplicate orders and making sure nobody got charged twice for tickets.

So rest assured we will be burning the midnight oil making sure your tickets get to you hassle free. Until then we’ll be toasting a Three Floyds beer to all you Dark Lord Fanatics.

    My Golden Ticket order # 1567 did not confirm with my mailing address house number. It is 2740 Moraine Valley Rd. Can this be updated within my order?

    PayPal users were charged shipping, and due to how PayPal works, the charge for such has already been “sent”.

    How will this be handled??

    Impressively, I managed to screw up my own shipping (not the site’s fault) and chose the wrong state in the pull-down menu. Curse you, scroll wheel!

    Thank you for all your work. This will be my first DLD! I wanted to make sure that order numbers 1502 and 5633 are both valid orders. I had to order tickets for a friend who was not able to be around when the tickets went on sale. However, there was no area on the site for me to put in someone else’s name if I was buying a ticket for them. Not all four are for me. Both of the orders listed have the exact same information, but I do indeed want both sets of tickets (one set for me, and one set for my friend). I can be contacted at the attached e-mail or the number provided in the order if need be. Sorry if that was a lot. Trying to be thorough.

    I paid via Paypal and was charged $20 for shipping which has already been taken out of my account. Will that be refunded as well?

    This sucks! I was told that I was in possesion of two tickets, but no confirmation through paypal! I guess I am one that will have to try and get Dark Lord after those that were confirmed get their Golden Tickets. I was with an Upland Rep at the time of sale and she recieved her confirmation but mine never came. I guess I should have waited at home on St. Patty’s Day (my and my wife’s 10 Year An. She is a good sport.)… Hope there is enough to go around at Dark Lord Day… Hope to see everyone there!

    While I can understand you dont want to charge anybodys card twice, those of use that were lucky enough to score a second order will not be shorted the second order right?

    WoW!!!! I carried my laptop around all day to make sure I would get my golden tickets and it worked! Although everyone at my local Irish Pub thought I was nuts :^) it was worth it. I am so looking forward to my 1st Dark Lord and the road trip from New Orleans.

    It was a bit nerve wracking as I’m in the process of building a bar in my “man cave” so I had to constantly stop work to check the site….now I’ll have a bottle of DL to share at the bar when the time comes…

    Also, drop me a line regarding next years golden ticket sale, there are some technologies and tweaks that could be made to keep your site up and alive.

    Personally i’m upset with the rudimentary way in which ticket sales were handled this year. Maybe i’m just upset because my refresh button wasn’t one of the fortunate ones. DLD and DarkLord in general were highly anticipated things for me and have now just sadly made their way to the bottom of my list. Inflated interest for this event was EASILY predicted ahead of time, there was no reason not to be prepared.

    Great to hear the tix sales were a success. I’d have bought them, but my St. Patrick’s day activities started while the site was still down. It was a tough call, but an irish pub full of my friends and Robert The Bruce on cask won over waiting for the site was up.

    Hoping to make it to DLD 2010 anyway.

    I was charge $4 for shipping but the entire charge was taken off and I still haven’t seen the $20 taken back out again. Any idea when this will take place?

    I had my order completed within 15-20 seconds after 2 PM, and was told NO tickets available!

    so they have hiccups and we get fucked and i’m sure nobody really gives a fuck they still make their money and further more how does stub hub have 26 tickets for sale at 150 thought 2 tickets a person.
