Dear Scalpers

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

This year we tried to do something different with Dark Lord Day and with the sale of Dark Lord.  We instituted the “Golden Ticket” plan to help the day go smoother.  As we said on the F.A.Q. page:

Hopefully with this new ticket system both of these problems (cutting in line and scalping bottles)  will be greatly reduced. Since there will be no sell out risk for anyone that has a ticket, there will be no point in trying to cut in line (which people did in the past to try to beat the sell out) and buying scalped bottles (which many did in the past because they came too late and Dark Lord bottles were already sold out). We can’t completely eliminate either of these problems but we think that this Golden Ticket system will go a long way towards reducing their occurrence.

So not only is this a benefit to john.q.darklord minion, but we used this as an opportunity to raise money for local charity.

But as soon as the tickets started to hit your houses they also started to show up on Ebay and Craigslist.  We don’t pretend we can tell you what to do with your personal property.  Once that ticket is in your hands it’s obviously yours to do whatever you want with it.  However, going out of your way to personally profit from this situation is at best scummy and worst just plain douchey.  Three Floyds does, in no way shape or form, condone scalping golden tickets. Besides, you don’t need a ticket to come down, enjoy beers from all over, eat BBQ, listen to bands, and have an amazing time with thousands of beer fans.  The ticket just allows you to buy some bottles of beer.  So please come down, rock out, and make DLD ‘09 the best one yet.

Sincerely, The Brewery Staff

The end is near!

False prophets, Wars in the Middle East, the formation of the European Union, the Global Recession, Three Floyds creating a blog and twitter page,  all signs point to the end.

But in these not normal times, what are we to do?  Rather than cower in our homes we should forge ahead.  These are not signs of the end times, but signs of future greatness.  Embrace the change and look to the blinding sun on the horizon.

Until the future comes, make sure you are prepared.  Here are some tips on how to protect yourself from sharp weapons.

The future is glorious.  And it’s so bright we are all wearing shades.
